Design: Randomized experimental study. Procedures: Quails (eight-weeks-old) were allocated randomly into 7 equal groups, each group in two replicates (each replicate, n= 9). Negative control group G1) was fed on basal diet without any additives, while other experimental groups, namely 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 were received diet containing: G2) basal diet (BD) + 200 ppb AFs; G3) BD + 400 ppb AFs; G4) BD + 0.5gm/kg Nutritox®; G5) BD + 400 ppb AFs + 0.5gm/kg Nutritox® ; G6) BD + 10gm/kg cinnamon powder; G7) BD + 400 ppb AFs + 10gm/kg cinnamon powder during the 3-weeks study period. Results showed that overall mortality increased in the group fed AF 400 ppb (BAF400) for three weeks compared to other groups. Significant (p ≤ 0.05) reduction of feed intake and weight gain in the same group (BAF400) were found compared to the control (BD) group. No significant (p ˃ 0.05) changes in live body weight, egg weight, egg number and egg shape index between the experimental groups. Eggshell thickness was significantly (p ≤ 0.05) reduced in (BAF400) group compared to the control (BD) group. Some biochemical parameters such as total proteins and calcium levels were also significantly (p ≤ 0.05) reduced in group fed AF 400 ppb (BAF400) for three weeks. Results revealed that some adverse effects of aflatoxins on quail could be ameliorated by administration of either Cinnamon or Nutritox. UR - https://mvmj.journals.ekb.eg/article_288325.html L1 - ER -
